Ryan M. Jewell

Ryan M. Jewell, B.COMM, CFP, CLU


Ryan has over 15 years of financial service experience and specializes in working with corporations and business owners in areas of investment, protection and succession planning. He obtained his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in 2010 and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in 2015 and is an active member of the Canadian Association of Life Underwriters (CALU). Ryan continuously looks to enhance his knowledge and practice and has found his niche is working with professional accountants to identify clients’ needs earlier on in their operations and with a more holistic approach.  Utilizing best practices across multiple disciplines and working with professional accountants has allowed the ADVICO team to be able to develop comprehensive plans covering all aspects of financial, insurance, tax and succession planning as well as build long lasting relationships with our clients and partners. Ryan also has a strong sense of community and family.  He served as the youngest President in history on the Sherwood park Chamber of Commerce and is actively involved in all aspects of his three children’s sporting activities, either as a coach, volunteer or as proud father.

Kyle Watson

Kyle Watson, B. Comm

Corporate Advisor

Kyle has 17 years of financial services experience, with a focus on listening and understanding his clients unique needs to create custom solutions and strategies that will help them achieve their financial goals. He specializes and has extensive experience working with business owners and incorporated professionals in areas of tax planning, buy/sell agreements, and succession planning. He is a graduate of the Bachelor of Commerce program at the University of Alberta and provides ongoing financial education and advice to the Medical and Dentistry faculties and residents at the University. Kyle is married and has two pre-teen boys who keep him busy with their basketball, lacrosse, scouts, and many other activities. Kyle’s other hobbies and interests include golf and real estate investing.

Monica Futerski

Monica Futerski, BA, CPA

Chief Operating Officer

Monica has over 18 years of experience in various levels of government and the NPO sector and through hard work and determination has worked her way up from a budget analyst to the Chief Financial Officer. She graduated from the University of Alberta in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in Economics, and later obtained her Charter Professional Accounting Designation in 2008.

Monica’s strategic foresight and business planning skills have allowed her to successfully revamp departments and businesses to become not only effective, efficient but creative and forward thinking. Monica believes that critical assessment, evaluation and planning is critical in setting a clear direction for personal and corporate success.

Monica and her husband are proud to be living and raising their two daughters in the community of Sherwood Park. In a short period of time living in this community, her and her family has been fortunate to make great connections, meaningful relationships and lasting friendships and she is happy to call Sherwood Park home.

Patrick Chapelsky

Patrick comes from a background of game theory and math-based problem solving. Referred to as the “numbers guy” his unique skillset helps bridge the gap between planning and implementation. Patrick takes great pride in understanding his clients unique characteristics and enjoys developing innovative solutions that work. Patrick and his wife were recently blessed by a little brother for their daughter Emery and as if he is not busy enough, he has dedicated time towards attaining his Bachelor of Commerce degree with Athabasca University.

Sherry has been with ADVICO since 2011, initially as the Receptionist/Administrative Assistant and has progressively specialized and grown with the organization to oversee the administrative team. She is committed to providing exceptional service to those she works with, as well as those she works for… our valued clients.

Sherry understands that alongside your written financial plan, there should be a trusting relationship with an effective, efficient and caring team of professionals who will always put your needs first. She has a great deal of experience in the client services field as well as a genuine interest in people. Sherry’s positive, friendly and enthusiastic nature combined with her creativity, eye for detail and organizational skills ensure both our professional team and our clients a pleasant experience.

Away from the office Sherry enjoys time devoted to her family and friends, travel, reading and yoga. She is passionate about helping people and truly believes each one of us is special and deserves to be treated so.

Tara Morrow

Executive Assistant

Tara is one of our newest team members. Joining ADVICO in December of 2018 as the Executive Assistant. Tara will be sure to assist you with her caring personality and willingness to help.

A Certified Accounting Technician by trade, Tara has also spent the past 20 years working within corporate and legal environments. She has tremendous value in helping ensure our office is efficient, organized and task-orientated. Her organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail and willingness to always lend a helping hand is critical in supporting our clients and our growing team.

Away from the office Tara spends her time with her loving Husband Aaron and their two active children, Bryton and Ashlyn. She has always loved to volunteer her time managing her children’s sports teams, helping to plan provincial sporting events, and assisting with local charitable organizations within the communities she lives in. You may be able to catch her cheering on her children at any hockey rink or at a gymnasium hosting a competitive jump rope competition.

Morgan’s family has been involved in the insurance industry for quite sometime and she understands the importance insurance plays in day to day life. Once deciding to make the switch from retail management to a career path that allowed her more work / life balance she was referred to the ADVICO team by her father-in-law and instructor at the Business Career College in 2017.  

Morgan has spent many years in retail management and customer service industry and understands the importance of putting our clients first. Morgan is hard working, dedicated and enjoys learning, and has recently complete her final exam in the Life Licences Qualifications Program, while balancing two rambunctious little ones at home.

Karen Strawson

Receptionist/In Force Client Services

Karen finds enjoyment in helping people and organizations become successful. As ADVICO’S Receptionist and in force client service representative, she is the first person to greet you with a warm welcome and extend a helping hand with her dedicated, approachable and caring personality.

Prior to joining the ADVICO Team in July 2018, Karen spent several years working alongside Alberta Safety Codes Officers providing permits for residential and commercial construction. It was during this time that Karen learned the unique ability to build lasting working relationships and assist customers with the process of understanding how to navigate their way through the building process. Through those customer interactions she was able to recognize that Customers are a valuable asset to any organization.

Away from the office, Karen is a certified yoga instructor and reiki master. Realizing the importance of balance in one’s life, has become a practice that she shares regularly with her family, friends and students.

Brent Jewell

General Manager

As the General Manager, Brent has been Involved with ADVICO since April 2007 Brent has always donated his time to his Community. As a coach of numerous sports teams, a member of both Kinsmen and Rotary International, a Chamber of Commerce President and member of his Church Parish Council.

He has managed numerous businesses for over forty years. As a Regional Vice President for a national moving company he was responsible for nine branches employing from 200 to 300 employees from Victoria to Winnipeg for over 20 years.

He was then a successful owner of two retail stores for over 20 years. During this time he also served as an elected Council member for the County of Strathcona.

He retired from politics and then sold his retail stores in 2015 to concentrate on his duties with ADVICO Advisory ever since.

This has also given him more time to enjoy his true passions, travelling with his wife of over 45 years and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Frances Jewell

Frances Jewell, BEd, BPEd

Event Manager

Frances’ primary role on the ADVICO team is to plan and implement our corporate activities, sponsorships and client events. She is a detail-oriented professional with strengths in creation, planning and execution of events at any scale. Her previous experience as an LLQP licensed assistant, adds a wealth of knowledge and expertise to support the work of the administration team.

As a former U of A Athlete, Frances won a National Championship which led to her team being entered into the Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame. 

Frances continues to share her love and passion for Hockey by volunteering her time and sharing her experiences while coaching children’s teams and serving as an active member on the Sherwood Park Kings board.  Her children also share her athleticism and love of all sports, keeping Frances hopping from the hockey arena, to the gymnastics gym, to the baseball diamonds.
